Mandan Flowers

Mandan Flowers was a community project led by a team of five participants in the Leadership Bismarck Mandan Class of 2019. The project scope started with a six-block area of Main Street from Sixth Ave NW to Collins Ave. The team researched similar projects in other cities and discovered that the beautification elements help make downtown more welcoming and also help boost the economy.

In 2022, the project was handed over to the City of Mandan.

As of 2023, the scope has grown to 46 hanging flower baskets along Main Street from Sixth Ave NE to Sixth Ave NW plus an area around City Hall, and four planters located on the north side of Main Street from Collins Ave to Fourth Ave NW.

City staff plan on hanging the flower baskets by the end of May or beginning of June each year.

Sponsor. Thank you BEK Communications Cooperative for providing $5,000 for Mandan Flowers in 2023 and 2024! The premier sponsor will be recognized on the City’s website, through social media, and in the Mandan Messenger. The sponsors name will also be engraved on a permanent plaque to be displayed in the Ed “Bosh” Froehlich meeting room at Mandan City Hall. Thank you BEK Communications Cooperative!

Thank you Cottontail Way Greenhouse! This summer (2024), Allan and Debby Dykshoorn of Cottontail Way Greenhouse donated flowers for the five planters along Main Street and flowers for the City Hall Building. City staff and leaders extend gratitude for the Dykshoorn’s contribution to Mandan!
