Grounds Maintenance

The Grounds Maintenance Department is one of the city's smallest departments with the majority of staff being seasonal workers. This department is small but mighty, covering a lot of ground throughout the city of Mandan. The Grounds Maintenace Department includes the Cemetery and Forestry Departments. 

• Full-time Grounds Maintenance Supervisor oversees the Cemetery, Grounds Maintenance and Forestry Departments; assists other departments with major projects like felling trees, waterline repairs, winter burials, equipment breakdowns; helps with snow removal in the winter, and mowing, weed eating and spraying in the summer. 
• Two part-time seasonal workers help mow, weed eats and spray the grounds during the summer. 
• Maintains approximately 151 acres of greenspace throughout Mandan. 
• Clears snow from over 6 miles of sidewalks throughout Mandan. 
• Cuts grass/noxious weed abatements for the City.
