2024 Street Improvement District 235

Aug. 15, 2025 —As the school year begins, please take note of the ongoing consttruction in the area. Access to the school should primarily function as usual. Please proceed with caution in construction zones and follow traffic control instructions. 


 

Aug. 14, 2025 —As part of the water main replacement in the Street Improvement District 235 project, the main line feeding Lohstreter Road must be shut down in order to repair a valve and make a connection for the new water main to be installed on 17th Ave NW.

  • This work is scheduled for the morning and early afternoon of Aug. 19, beginning at approximately 9 a.m.
  • Every effort will be made to limit the outage to under four hours.
  • Please turn off any booster pumps, water heaters, or other water-using appliances prior to the 19th to eliminate the risk of burnout or other damage.

Temporary Water Outage Area: Lohstreter Rd from the area of Marilyn Dr/16th Ave NW to north of Union Loop/Lincoln Place.


 

Update 7/29 - This work is now scheduled for the morning and early after noon hours of Wednesday, July 30, beginning at approximately 9 a.m.

Update 7/22 - This work was initially scheduled for July 22 but has been rescheduled for the morning and early afternoon of July 24, beginning at approximately 9 a.m. due to the heavy rain Tuesday morning.

This work is scheduled for the morning and early afternoon of July 22, 2025, beginning at approximately 9 a.m. Every effort will be made to limit the outage to under four hours. Please turn off any booster pumps, water heaters, or other water-using appliances prior to the July 22 outage to eliminate the risk of burnout or other damage.

June 10, 2025 - As part of the water main replacement in the SID 235 project, the main line feeding the area must be taken off-line and connected to. Only a very small number of properties will be without water service for a short period, and those properties have received individual notices. A looping line has been installed to maintain water service to the remainder of the neighborhood, but the area shown may experience reduced water pressure for part of the day. Please limit water usage.


 

Update as of May 28, 2025 —Due to significant rainfall in recent weeks, the intersection of Shady Lane and Main Street East will be closed for construction until June 9 (weather pending). Traffic will continue to be detoured to Mandan Ave and then Missouri Drive to access Shady Lane, Missouri Drive, 1st,2nd, 3rd and 4th St NE.

Oct. 2024 Update

The City of Mandan has been working with Strata Corporation on Street Improvement District 235 Area 1 & 2. The projects will soon be wrapping up for the winder, resuming in late spring or early summer of 2025. 

AREA 1 - project to rehabilitate streets and improve drainage

What to Expect Before Winter Shutdown: 

  • All streets have been restored to drivable conditions. 
  • Valley gutters at Second Street and Shady Lane will be reinstalled. 

2025 Construction Season: 

  • Construction may not begin until load restrictions are lifted. 
  • Parking will be restricted and roads will temporarily closed as necessary. 
  • The southern block of Shady Ln will be milled and overlayed. The intersections of Shady Ln with First Street and Main Street will be reconstructed. 
  • A handicap-accessible crossing will be added to Missouri Dr by Fourth Street. 
  • Edling Electric will be boring new conduits and replacing light poles on Shady Ln and First St. 

AREA 2 -  project to replace water main and rehabilitate streets

What to Expect Before Winter Shutdown: 

  • All streets will be restored to drivable condition. Not all sidewalk work is complete where street work is done. Sidewalks will be connected and opened for winter but some broken or heaved areas will not be replaced until next year. 
  • Strata will continue with concrete repairs and will mill and overlay 16th Ave, one block of Seventh Street, Fourth Street, and Marilyn Drive. Restricted parking and temporary road closures on these streets will continue until construction is wrapped up for the year. 
  • Landscaping behind new concrete will be restored. 
  • If you have sprinklers that have been damage, please notify the on-site engineer or call the number listed below. 

2025 Construction Season: 

  • Construction may not begin until load restrictions are lifted, and will not begin near Christ the King school until after school is out for the summer. 
  • Water main replacements will require temporary shutoffs. 
  • Parking will be restricted and roads temporarily closed as necessary.
  • Edling Electric will be boring new conduit and replacing light poles in some areas.
