Free Fall Landfill Week

Mandan Public Works is offering a “Free Fall Landfill Week” allowing city residents to dispose of certain debris free of charge, when brought out to the Mandan City Landfill from Sept. 16-21, 2024.

During “Free Fall Landfill Week” the Mandan Municipal Landfill will be open on Monday, Sept.16 through Saturday, Sept. 21 from 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Here's how it works:

  • Items will NOT be collected curbside with residential garbage. The landfill will accept items from Mandan residents, including furniture and appliances, free of charge.

  • Residents dumping at the landfill will be required to show identification with proof of their city address.

  • Appliances must be cleaned of all food and other debris before they will be accepted at the Mandan Landfill.

  • There is a $4 charge per car or pickup tire. Larger tires such as tractor, semi-trailer or heavy equipment tires are charged at regularly listed prices.

  • No building/construction materials (sheetrock, shingles, other roofing materials, and siding but not limited to these items). Please call Public Works at 701-667-3240 for clarification or questions on other items.

  • No hazardous waste such as pesticides, insecticides or harsh cleaning supplies.

  • All paint must be in solid form. This can be done by adding sand, kitty litter, wood chips or sawdust, and must be fully dry to dispose of at the landfill.

The road to the City Landfill:
The City Landfill is located approximately 3 miles west of Mandan on Business Loop I-94, then south on County Road 82 a half-mile, and west 1 mile. Remember to tie down or tarp all loads to prevent littering along the roadway. As of October 2014, all unsecured loads are subject to a $20 fee, a load not tarped can be refused, and littering is punishable by State Law.

If you have any questions on Free Fall Landfill Week or Grass Sites please contact Mandan Public Works at 701-667-3240.
