Memorial Hwy Update: Traffic Changes Planned at 46th Ave SE
Apr. 27, 2026 - As part of the ongoing Memorial Highway reconstruction project, traffic control at the 46th Ave SE intersection will be adjusted in two upcoming stages as crews complete turn lane improvements and concrete repairs.
Beginning Tuesday, April 28, crews are scheduled to work on the 46th Ave SE left-turn lane extension on Memorial Highway. During this work, left turns from westbound Memorial Highway onto southbound 46th Ave SE will not be allowed. Westbound traffic will be shifted to the north side of the roadway while work is completed.
Next week, crews will begin concrete repair on 46th Ave SE just south of the intersection. During that phase, northbound traffic on 46th Ave SE will be limited to right turns only onto Memorial Highway. Traffic on 46th Ave SE will not be able to turn west onto Memorial Highway.
Traffic control devices will remain in place throughout both stages of construction.
What this means for drivers:
- Westbound Memorial Highway: No left turns onto southbound 46th Ave SE during turn lane construction.
- Northbound 46th Ave SE: Right turns only onto Memorial Highway during concrete repair.
- Traffic will shift through the intersection as work progresses.
- Access to businesses in the area will be maintained, though routes may change.
- Motorists should expect delays and are encouraged to plan ahead or use alternate routes when possible.
This work is expected to continue through mid-May, weather permitting.
The North Dakota Department of Transportation reminds drivers to slow down, stay alert and be prepared for changing traffic patterns in all work zones.
