Memorial Highway Reconstruction Update

March 2025 Memorial Highway Reconstruction Update. Memorial Highway construction will begin April 1. Traffic will be reduced to a single lane in each direction during construction, the speed will be lowered to 25 mph, and there will be an 11-foot width restriction.

Memorial Highway will be reconstructed from 32nd Ave SE to 46th Ave SE as part of the 2025 construction season. The project includes replacing the existing surfacing with new concrete pavement, improving drainage, installing underground utilities, and a new multi-use path for bicyclists and pedestrians.

Other improvements include upgraded traffic signals, lighting, improved access for businesses, and drainage enhancements. The east half of the Memorial Highway reconstruction is expected to be completed by mid-November, and the east side multi-use path is scheduled for completion in 2026.

Upcoming Work. Project improvements include construction of an underground storm sewer trunk line that will cross 21st St SE and 19th St SE. Information regarding street closures and proposed detour routes is available here: 19th St SE (starting Apr. 1, 2025), 21st St SE (April 2025).
