Commerce Renews Mandan Renaissance Zone for 5 More Years
Sept. 1, 2020 - The N.D. Department of Commerce – Division of Community Services on Aug. 31 signed a memorandum of agreement with the City of Mandan to renew its Renaissance Zone Program for five additional years through Aug. 31, 2025. The City of Mandan had submitted an updated Renaissance Zone Development Plan outlining goals, qualification thresholds and the addition of nine blocks to Mandan’s boundaries.
The Renaissance Zone Program is a tool for community redevelopment and economic investment that provides tax incentives to business and residential property owners to help offset costs for qualified projects.
The program currently includes 58 cities across North Dakota. Since the program’s 2005 start in Mandan, property owners have committed $24 million to 45 buildings being newly constructed or rehabilitated as Renaissance Zone projects. These projects have involved 11 business retentions, 21 expansions, and 16 new businesses.
Mandan’s updated plan and request for extension of the program received support from the Morton County Commission, Mandan School Board, Mandan Park District, Mandan Progress Organization and the Bismarck Mandan Chamber EDC.
