Parking Violation Fines to Increase in 2025
- Increasing the loading zone and fire lane violation to $50.
- The fine for parking within 10 feet of a fire hydrant is going up to $20.
- All other parking fines will be increasing from $10 to $15.
Commission approved the ordinance changes during the July 16 meeting. These changes go into effect Jan. 1, 2025.
The current procedure will stand if payment is not received within 10 days. Fines currently double after 10 days of non-payment. After 20 days the matter is sent to Municipal Court and additional court fees are added. If a ticket remains unpaid, a warrant can be issued to the registered owner of the vehicle for non-payment.
Parking fines in the City of Mandan have not been changed since the implementation of the Parking Authority. The board hopes these increases will encourage better parking habits to keep parking for businesses open for customers.
The Parking Authority is charged with monitoring the status of parking availability and providing input to the City Commission, Police Department, Public Works and other City departments regarding parking enforcement, signage, maintenance and rental fees. The board is made up of downtown business owners and residents who help develop solutions to parking issues that promote customer access to businesses. The board meets as needed.
