Fire Dept Responds to Fuel Tank Explosion at Gray Oil
Jan. 10, 2026 –At 8:40 a.m. this morning, Saturday, Jan. 10. 2026, the Mandan Fire Department responded to a reported fuel tank explosion at the Gray Oil facility located at 2110 40th Ave SE in Mandan.
Upon arrival, fire crews confirmed that a tank rupture had occurred. The incident was limited to one individual tank and did not involve the entire tank battery or facility. The incident resulted in damage to nearby off-site structures. The extent of that damage is currently being evaluated.
Several individuals were evaluated on scene by medical personnel. There were no significant injuries to employees, responders, or the public as a result of the incident. All personnel were accounted for and the scene was quickly stabilized.
The cause of the incident remains under investigation. The Mandan Fire Department is working with facility representatives to determine contributing factors. There is no known risk to the public at this time.
The Mandan Fire Department was assisted by the Mandan Police Department, Metro Area Ambulance Service, North Dakota Highway Patrol, Morton County Sheriff’s Office, and Central Dakota Communications Center.
