New Recycling Routes Begins Jan. 3
Jan. 3, 2022 — The City of Mandan Public Works Department reminds residents that Waste Management, the contractor for residential curbside recycling collection, is implementing new routes beginning today.
Recycling will still be collected every other week on the same day as household garbage, but the week of pickup is changing for some residents. Recycling trucks will now collect on both sides of the street in each area on the designated collection day. Using the map in place for garbage collection, Waste Management split each existing daily area into zones A and B, which determines the every other week rotation and day of collection.
Residents received calendars in the mail and flyers with their water bill providing information about the collection zones and schedule. Additional copies are available at Mandan City Hall. An interactive map that allows residents to search for their zone by address and additional information is posted at www.cityofmandan.com/recycle.
The previous schedule was based on odd and even house numbers. Waste Management made the change to reduce truck traffic on residential streets, enhance safety, and improve service.
“Moving to zone collection reduces confusion on when recycling is collected,” said Waste Management Public Sector Services Representative Paul Kalibabky, “Residents will set out their recycling cart, with their garbage cart, when their A or B zone is scheduled for collection.”
