Nov. 14, 2025 Memorial Highway Snow Removal Plan
This winter, the North Dakota Department of Transportation will be providing additional snow removal services along the Mandan strip within the work zone. Because the new concrete work has created temporary extensions to the north-side approaches, our maintenance crews have been tasked with clearing snow from these areas. We want to share our plan with you, outline what you can expect, and answer some common questions about how we will manage snow and ice control during the season.
Snow Removal Plan – Questions & Answers
Why is NDDOT providing extra snow removal this winter?
Due to the recent construction and new concrete surfaces, many business approaches have temporary extensions. To maintain access, our crews will be clearing snow from these extended approaches until construction impacts are resolved.
What time of day will snow removal occur?
All snow removal following an overnight snowfall will be completed before 8 a.m., ensuring business access is cleared before typical opening hours. If snowfall occurs during the day, crews will return as needed to keep approaches open and usable.
What equipment will be used?
Because standard plow trucks cannot fit into the smaller entrances, we will be using a combination of tractors, blowers, Bobcat units and loaders.
This combination of equipment allows us to maneuver within tight spaces and efficiently clear the individual business approaches.
Will my business need to move anything or take any action?
At this time, no action is required from you. However, keeping approaches free of parked vehicles or temporary obstacles will help our crews clear more effectively.
Our goal is to minimize impacts to your business while ensuring the traveling public can safely reach their destinations. We appreciate your cooperation and patience as we work to maintain safe access throughout the winter.
