Mandan Welcomes Cermak As New Business Development & Communications Director

Jan. 9, 2023 – Madison Cermak is excited to start her new role as the Business Development and Communications Director for the City of Mandan.

Cermak is responsible for leading the city’s economic, business and community development efforts by providing support to existing businesses, fostering entrepreneurism and attracting new businesses. She’ll manage local business assistance and incentive programs; conduct business retention and expansion visits; organize informational and educational activities for existing businesses and start-up prospects, and more. Cermak will also oversee community marketing, public information and outreach activities.

“I am very fortunate to have the opportunity to take on the Business Development and Communications Director position,” says Cermak. “I know I have big shoes to fill stepping into this role, but am ready and excited to become a business champion for the City of Mandan!”

Cermak comes to Mandan from the Downtowners Association of Bismarck where she started as the special projects coordinator in 2014 and was promoted to senior marketing manager in 2020. Other experience includes being on the organizing team for 1 Million Cups Bismarck Mandan, serving as a community partner for GO Bismarck Mandan and special projects panelist with the ND Council of the Arts.

Cermak earned a bachelor’s degree in public relations and advertising with a minor in business administration from North Dakota State University. She also obtained a web design and programming certificate from Bismarck State College.
