Bismarck-Mandan Mayors' Committee for People with Disabilities Announces Scholarship Winners
May 29, 2024 –The Bismarck-Mandan Mayors’ Committee for People with Disabilities recently announced its 2024 scholarship winners. The committee, which operates with funds received from both cities for their accessibility parking violations, solicits and awards scholarships to persons with disabilities pursuing post-secondary education including vocational training.
The committee awarded five scholarships in the amount of $1,000 to students in the Bismarck-Mandan area, as well as a $500 scholarship to a Bismarck State College student. The winners are:
- Ava Sutton, Century High School
- Ethan Seibel, Legacy High School
- Rayha Urness, Bismarck High School
- Denesse Wilson, Bismarck High School
- Zoe Nelson, Bismarck High School
- Nathan Dressler, Bismarck State College
The mayors’ committee for people with disabilities is a volunteer organization made up of school personnel, vocational rehabilitation, advocacy organizations, non-profit agencies, city personnel and the private sector. The mission of the committee is to endorse and promote the hiring of people with disabilities, accessibility within the community, and encourage and coordinate open communication related to the issues of employment of persons with disabilities.
