Street Improvement District 242 (near Roosevelt Elementary) Project Moves Forward
Mar. 17, 2026- At its March 17 meeting, the Mandan City Commission approved the insufficiency of protest for Street Improvement District 242 (also known as 2B), a project near Roosevelt Elementary School.
The City of Mandan’s Engineering Department processed protests from 45% of the land area. North Dakota Century Code 40-22-18 requires 50% or more of the land area to successfully protest a project.
When the project was last brought to commission in 2024, it was successfully protested by 55% of the land area. Since then, the area has experienced several additional water main breaks and road conditions that continue to deteriorate.
The project will be moved on to final design and bid. If the bids are approved, the project could see some work starting as early as this fall, with the rest being done in 2027.
