Dec. 1, 2025 MPO and Pegasus Illuminations to Attempt World Record NYE Firework Show

A U.S. 250th Celebration World Record Pyro-Musical Supporting Wounded Warrior Project, Western ND Honor Flight, and Mandan High School Marching Band

The Mandan Progress Organization (MPO) and Pegasus Illuminations, LLC are excited to announce, “New Year, New Light – Remember Our Veterans 2026,” a historic World Record fireworks attempt and patriotic pyro-musical launching North Dakota’s official U.S. 250th celebrations. This extraordinary event will raise funds for the Wounded Warrior Project, Western North Dakota Honor Flight, and support the Mandan High School Marching Band as they prepare to represent North Dakota in the London New Year’s Day Parade on January 1, 2027.

Taking place on December 31, 2025, at 10:00 p.m., the 20-minute show will be viewed from the Mandan High School parking lot. The performance will attempt a world record with 2.5 million roman candle shots, synchronized to a powerful soundtrack celebrating courage, sacrifice, and unity. This immersive experience blends light, music, and pyrotechnics into a deeply emotional tribute to those who have served—and continue to serve—our nation.

“New Year, New Light” is more than a fireworks display it is a mission with a $30,000 fundraising goal. Through reserved parking spot admissions and community support, proceeds which will directly benefit the Wounded Warrior Project, Western North Dakota Honor Flight, and the Mandan High School Marching Band’s 2027 appearance in the London New Year’s Day Parade. Mandan High School Marching Band Students and parents will be the onsite team welcoming all guests to the New Year’s Eve Show.  Online donations will also be accepted for those who cannot attend in person.

I can’t think of a better way to kick off 2026,” said Matt Schanandore, Executive Director of the Mandan Progress Organization. “This show is bigger than fireworks. It’s a moment for us to unite, honor our heroes, support our young people, and proudly launch North Dakota’s U.S. 250th celebrations. We hope families from across the region will join us for a night that will quite literally light up the sky for a cause that truly matters.”

Starting Thanksgiving Day, Tickets will go on sale to purchase your spot in one of five general parking sections in Mandan High School main parking lot to view the show. Viewing spots will be limited. Ticket links will be available at VisitMandan.com on Thanksgiving Day at 8am. Tickets will only be available for purchase online for this event.
