Arbor Day
Mandan Public Works celebrated Arbor Day on Friday, May 2 with fifth grade students at Custer Elementary School. North Dakota Forest Service Outreach and Education Manager Beth Hill gave a presentation on how trees grow and Grounds Maintenance Superintendent Jason Herman read the proclamation signed by Mayor Jim Froelich declaring May 2, 2025, Arbor Day in the City of Mandan.
Each year, the City has a celebration outside and plants a tree on Arbor Day at one of the schools in the community.
Arbor is traditionally celebrated the first Friday in May, but any day can be recognized and celebrated!
Mandan is proud to be a Tree City USA for 49 years! This means the City meets four core standards of sound urban forestry management: maintaining a tree board or department, having a community tree ordinance, investing at least $2 per capita on urban forestry and celebrating Arbor Day.
