Local Election Information

Candidates can begin to circulate petitions for the 2018 local elections on Jan. 1. Due to the holiday, the first day to file petitions is Jan. 2. The deadline for filing petitions is April 9, 2018  at 4 p.m. 

City of Mandan. Two, four-year terms are available for City Commission. The seats up for election are currently held by Shauna Laber and Dennis Rohr.

Southwest Water Authority. One-four year term is available for city representation on the Southwest Water Authority. Bob Leingang is the current representative.

Mandan Park Board. Three, four-year terms are available for the Park Board. The seats are currently held by Jason Arenz, Ann McPherson and Chad Hatzenbuhler

Mandan School Board. Two, three-year terms are available for the School Board. The seats up for election are currently held by Sheldon Wolf, Caroline Kozojed and Rick Horn.

Morton County. Two, four-year terms are available for County Commission. The seats are currently held by Jim Boehm and Andy Zachmeier. The Sheriff, States Attorney, Auditor, Treasurer, and Recorder positions are also up for election. Candidates must submit petitions to the auditor’s office in the Morton County Courthouse. The Morton County primary date is June 12. Top candidates will advance to the Nov. 6 election. 

Candidates for City Commission, Southwest Water Authority and Park Board must file a signed statement of interest and petitions with the city administrator office, 205 2nd Ave NW. School Board candidates must submit a statement of interest to the School District.
