MANDAN FIRE DEPARTMENT

6th Annual THROUGH THE SMOKE ROAD RACE

The Mandan Fire Department will be hosting a 10K & 5K run and 5K walk on Saturday, September 30th, 2017 with registration starting at 8:00 a.m. at Raging Rivers Water Park 2600 46th Ave SE in Mandan with the race starting at 9:00 a.m. and walk starting at 9:05 a.m.

The THROUGH THE SMOKE ROAD RACE is organized is to promote wellness and fitness for firefighters and the public. The number one cause of death of firefighters is heart attacks. The Mandan Fire Department and Fire Chief Steve Nardello continue to promote exercise and each fire station has a workout room and equipment available to all firefighters. Career firefighters are required to exercise one hour each shift, and part-time firefighters are encouraged to work out on a consistent basis to ensure readiness at all times.

Not a runner?  It’s okay! We have a 5K walk which should take about an hour at an average pace. The course is flat and will provide you with an invigorating start to your day!

We will be posting this information on  “Running in the USA,” Facebook, the local newspapers and the radio. The best advertisement is word of mouth and that's why we hope you log onto these sites for early registration. Please feel free to print copies of the registration form and share with friends and family, and post it around town to help us spread the word. If you or your business is interested in donating prizes or monetary donations it would be appreciated.  Please contact our committee members for questions or donations.
