Street Sweeping

Long, snowy winters mean lots of sand on the streets that need to be swept in early spring. Street sweepers are scheduled to remove sand from the streets in early spring. It normally takes approximately 3 to 4 weeks to sweep the 100-plus miles of streets in the city.

The City of Mandan recycles the sand that is swept up in the spring, it is cleaned and then mixed with new sand and salt for use the following year. We recover approximately 30 to 40 percent.

**Friendly reminder- If snow and wet conditions are expected during the week this could hinder any sweeping of the streets.**

SPECIAL NOTE:  Sweepers in in the residential areas start at approximately 7:00 a.m.  Please do your best to remove vehicles from the city streets.  This will allow the operators to sweep the curb/gutter area efficiently.  Thank you for your cooperation with this process.

This schedule is subject to change on a daily basis due to weather, breakdowns, emergencies or other unforeseen issues.  This schedule will be updated as the sweepers move into other areas of town.

Thank you for being patient with this process and we plan to keep going as the weather allows.
