Welcome to our city website
Mandan_Logo_Final.jpg

Mandan’s slogan, “Where the West Begins,” embodies our community’s rugged and hearty nature evident in our terrain, people, annual celebrations, and heritage, first as a village for the Mandan tribe, then a cavalry fort, railroad town and hub for area ranchers and farmers.

The City of Mandan was founded in 1881 as the center for western expansion of the iron rail. In 1883, a railroad bridge spanning the mighty Missouri River linked the east and west.

Today, Mandan is a growing city. We are passionately retaining our hometown atmosphere and history, while moving ahead everyday. We welcome new residents, businesses and visitors! To learn more about Mandan, read our community overview.

Through this website, we strive to provide current information on city services. Check back often for updates on the latest actions by the City Commission, development progress, and news of events and other areas of interest.
